Jailer 2 Sets a Record No Indian Film Has Ever Achieved Across the South

Jailer 2 has pulled off a record that even the biggest pan-India blockbusters never managed. Rajinikanth’s film is now the first film ever to gross over ₹75 Cr in each of the four major South Indian markets.

16 Days Box Office

  • Tamil Nadu: ₹190Cr+
  • Telugu States: ₹90 Cr+
  • Karnataka: ₹85Cr+
  • Kerala: ₹75 Cr+

No film before Jailer 2 had crossed ₹75 Cr in all four of these territories.

Why It’s So Hard

Every big South Indian film tends to dominate its home state, and often one or two neighboring markets. But doing well in all four at once is extremely rare.

Even giants like Baahubali 2 and KGF: Chapter 2 had huge numbers in most of these markets, but fell short of ₹75 Cr in at least one. Kerala, in particular, has always been the toughest market for non-Malayalam films.

Kerala Was the Final Barrier

That’s what makes Jailer 2’s Kerala run so special. The film recently beat Baahubali 2’s nine-year-old record to become the highest-grossing non-Malayalam film ever in the state, and with that, it crossed the ₹75 Cr mark in Kerala too.

A Truly Pan-South Blockbuster

Jailer 2’s numbers across the four markets show how widely it has connected.

  • In Tamil Nadu, it’s aiming for an all-time record (230Cr+)
  • In the Telugu states heading towards 100 Cr mark .
  • In Karnataka, it’s heading towards ₹100 Cr.
  • In Kerala, it’s the biggest non-Malayalam film ever.

Rajinikanth’s appeal has never been limited to Tamil Nadu, and Jailer 2 has proved it like never before.

₹800 Cr Loading

Worldwide, Jailer 2 has already become Kollywood’s all-time industry hit, with collections in the ₹770 Cr range. It’s now set to cross ₹800 Cr this week, another first for Tamil cinema.
